david kam - guest teacher

David Kam is a movement artist interested in the intersections of play, inclusivity and wellbeing. A queer Malaysian native based in London, David believes that the creative poverty of not yet knowing is always an invitation to play. Weaving 10 years of mindfulness, yoga, somatic and artistic research, David curates human-led experiences of embodying joy, freedom and everything else within the spectrum of wonder. David is currently pursuing a specialist course in choreological studies at Trinity Laban, studying movement from the contemporary lens of Rudolf Laban’s theories.

David will be leading your through a day of movement and practice like you’ve never experienced before!

BEYOND ASANA WORKSHOP

The day will begin with a reimagined practice facilitated by David. You will then dissect elements of energy, space and relatedness as tools to navigate the ambiguities of teaching beyond the tangible forms of asana.

EMBODYING THE TEACHER WORKSHOP

“What the teacher is, is more important than what he teaches.”- Karl Meninger

We will explore various means of embodying the ‘teacher’ as a universal archetype within us, understanding that the wisdom we share will always be shaped by who we are, more so than what we know. Expect a playful and interactive day where we zoom out a little beyond the context of yoga and deep into ourselves as heart-led human beings to rediscover teaching as a fundamental way of expression.
